Recent breakthroughs in wood preservation technology allow us to turn porous wood into a material that is stronger and more stable than the original. It won’t shrink, it won’t crack, yet it can still be shaped with conventional woodworking tools. Best of all, it allows for the addition of colors that permeate all the way through the wood, unlike traditional stains and dyes.
We offer single-dyed and double-dyed stabilized wood blocks, depending on the visual effect you are seeking for your finished product. Double-dyed wood blends two different colors in the dying process, yielding striking color transitions and our most “vivid” appearance.
After extensive testing, we have selected Maple and Buckeye wood species as being ideal for stabilization. Each has its own subtle characteristics, and you can see the dying options we offer for each species in our color chart.
